After several weeks in Australia, our very own David Powers has returned. There were two aspects of David’s trip. First and foremost was mission work. Dr. Powers gave a variety of sermons and lectures at local churches in the Sydney and capital regions. The second part, however, “involved more physical pursuits.
The Sun News has posted a full article about David’s trip, written by Dr. Powers himself.
Here’s an excerpt:
As a whole, Australians comprise a nation of people dedicated to recreation, although like many Americans, recreation does not always equate to fitness. In fact, one of the many problems Australians blame on Americans is the national obesity epidemic. They blame our export of McDonald’s, KFC, and Burger King (known as Hungry Jack in Australia), not to mention the offerings from Coke and Pepsi. Like many in America, it is preferable to blame someone other than the person stuffing his face with a hamburger and fries.

Recently, Carolina Forest Community Church launched a new section of their website: help wanted ads.
The Myrtle Beach church was looking for ways to reach out to the community and to those hurting in light of the current economic situation. Their current series, iWork, is all about work and jobs. What better way to help people who are unemployed, or running the risk of being unemployed, than to help them find jobs?
On the site, you can post and search for jobs. There’s not much there yet, but they’re hoping to expand it to impact as many people as possible. If your company is looking to hire, post here. It’s free and you could help someone out. It’s always good to find reliable, hard working employees. By using the church’s service, there’s a good chance you may find the right person for the job.
